This program focuses on the nature and structure of language. It is sought by students interested in the description and explanation of particular languages or of human linguistic capabilities in general.

Prerequisites

Applicants for the Graduate Diploma in Arts program should have obtained a Bachelor degree from an approved tertiary education institution, with at least six Credit level grades (60% or better) in courses other than first year courses.

Although the Graduate Diploma in Arts specialising in Linguistics and the Master of Linguistics are NOT integrated, students who achieve an average grade of Distinction or higher (min. 70%) in the Graduate Diploma may use this to enter the Master of Linguistics program.

Requirements

Candidates are required to complete courses to the value of 36 units (normally 6 courses) taught in the area of their specialisation.
