The Master of Public Policy specialising in Industry Strategy is designed for those professionally engaged in government and other policy-related organisations or activities. The degree provides students with a range of opportunities for advanced investigation of the analytical skills, public policies and organisational practices appropriate for advising on public policy and managing program outcomes.

The degree is currently only available for those students sponsored by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources.

Prerequisites

Applicants should normally hold:

(1) a Graduate Diploma in Public Administration awarded with Merit or Distinction; or

(2) qualifications equivalent to a degree of Bachelor with first or upper second class honours from an Australian University and suitable work experience, as determined by the Prescribed Authority; or

(3) qualifications equivalent to a degree of Bachelor from an Australian University and substantial relevant work experience, as determined by the Prescribed Authority; or

(4) an equivalent combination of postgraduate study in public policy and administration and relevant work experience, as determined by the Prescribed Authority.

Requirements

 

The program consists of 48 units, including 30 units of compulsory courses, 6 units to be chosen in a mandatory selection in management or leadership and 12 units of electives.  The electives are chosen in consultation with the Academic Director of the program.

Mandatory Course in Management or Leadership

In the second (part-time) year of the program, one course is to be chosen from the following four approved courses in management or leadership offered by the Crawford School of Economics and Government, or another course on management or leadership, on the approval of the Academic Director.
