Master of International Affairs Specialising in Peace and Conflict Studies

The GSIA has established an international partnership with the International Peace Research Institute Oslo to teach a Peace and Conflict Studies specialisation within the GSIA degree programs. The program is designed to provide advanced academic training in conflict resolution and peace-building within a broader understanding of international relations. It considers issues such as the causes of conflict, conflict management, peace-building, humanitarian intervention and the ethical dilemmas associated with these issues.

Requirements

The MIA Specialising in Peace & Conflict Studies is a 48 unit coursework degree.

Candidates are required to complete:

• 24 units of compulsory courses (taken full-time only) in Oslo, Norway, taught by the Peace Research Institute, Oslo

 and

• 24 units of courses at ANU - consisting of one 12-unit core course  (either World Politics INTR8036 or International Relations Theory INTR8011) and two 6-unit electives.

MIA candidates require an average of at least 65%, with no fails recorded, to be awarded the degree.
