Students who complete this minor will have a better appreciation of current economic thinking. It provides evidence of the economic effects of major policy and other reforms to establish a foundation for assessing the responses to current events.
Learning Outcomes
Students who complete this minor will:
- have a better appreciation of current economics;
- be familiar with evidence of the economic effects of major policy and other reforms to establish a foundation for assessing the responses to current events; and
- be exposed to some of the major academic debates in the field.
Prerequisites
Some courses in this minor have the following courses as prerequisites:
ECON1101 Microeconomics 1
ECON1102 Macroeconomics 1 or ECON1100 Economics 1 (H)
ECON2101/ECON2111 Microeconomics 2 (P or H)
ECON2102/ECON2112 Macroeconomics (P or H)
Requirements
This minor requires the completion of 24 units, which must include:
24 units from completion of core courses from the following list:
ECHI1006 The Australian Economy: Past and Present
ECHI2003 Development, Poverty and Famine (P) or ECHI2013 Development, Poverty and Famine (H)
ECHI2005 History of Economic Thought (P) or ECHI2015 History of Economic Thought (H)
ECHI2006 The World Economy Since 1800 (P) or ECHI2016 The World Economy Since 1800 (H)
ECON2008 Japanese Economy and Economic Policy
ECON3009 Southeast Asian Economic Policy and Development (P) or ECON3109 Southeast Asian Economic Policy and Development (H)
