Students who complete this minor will have core analytical training in econometrics. It provides a foundation for students wishing to specialise in applied economics.
Learning Outcomes
Students who complete this minor will:
- have core analytical training in econometrics;
- be familiar with estimation and hypothesis testing in the linear regression model;
- understand the computational, statistical and theoretical tools used for research in macro and financial econometrics; and
- be able to formulate methods to estimate causality in economic models.
Prerequisites
Some courses in this minor have the following courses as prerequisites:
ECON1101 Microeconomics 1
EMET1001 Foundations of Economic and Financial Models
STAT1008 Quantitative Research Methods
Requirements
This minor requires the completion of 24 units, which must include:
12 units from completion of the following compulsory courses:
EMET2007 Econometrics I: Econometric Methods
EMET2008 Econometrics II: Econometric Modelling
12 units from completion of core courses from the following list:
EMET3006 Applied Micro-Econometrics
EMET3007 Business and Economic Forecasting
EMET3008 Applied Macro and Financial Econometrics
