Course Description

This course is a study of the Palaeologan culture after 1204 through to the capture of Constantinople by the Turks in 1453. The course will examine Byzantine art and culture in particular regions: Greece (especially Thessaloniki and Mount Athos), Cyprus and the Levant, Bulgaria, Serbia and Russia, Crete and Renaissance Italy.
