Course Description The course will examine the differences between natural hazard events and the scale of disasters caused their occurrence; everyday life and the risk of disaster; the concept of ‘vulnerability to risk' and to be ‘unsafe'; the role of livelihoods, and access to resources and the impact of natural hazards; and the capacity of people and governments to cope with disasters caused by natural hazards.
Learning Outcomes To gain an understanding of the human conditions that intervene to influence the scale of the disasters created by the occurrence of natural hazard events and a knowledge of the latest ideas about the human impacts of natural hazards
