Course Description

Students will conduct a project, under supervision, that will act as a capstone to the Artificial Intelligence specialisation, by applying and increasing the depth of the student's knowledge in this area. The activities in the course will normally include some combination of reading, writing, project work and presentation, as appropriate to the topic. The learning objectives, project overview and assessment arrangements will be specified at the outset using the Department of Computer Science form 'Independent Study Contract'.

Learning Outcomes

The learning objectives will be to:

  • apply the student's knowledge and implementation skills in the project course's area of computer science for the project course, and apply this to an advanced and specific project topic in that area.
  • deepen their knowledge of the project course's area through undertaking the project.
  • learn any specific technical skills required by their topic, and apply them to the project work.
  • learn relevant project-related skills, including project management and oral and written communication, and apply these to project work.
Course Classification(s) AdvancedAdvanced courses are designed for students having reached 'first degree' level of assumed knowledge, which provide a deep understanding of contemporary issues; or 'second degree' and higher levels of knowledge; or for transition to research training programs.
