| Course Description |
The course consists of a study of the major developments in theatre and theatrical writing in Europe since the middle of the 19th century through the analysis of representative plays by Ibsen, Chekhov, Strindberg, Jarry, Pirandello, Brecht, Lorca, Beckett, and Ionesco in the context of contemporary performance and production techniques. |
| Indicative Assessment |
1,500-2,000 word essay (25%), examination (25%) and workshop contribution and performance (50%). |
| Workload | Three and a half hours per week: one 1-hour lecture, one 1-hour tutorial and one 1.5 hour workshop. |
