| Course Description |
Diploma Microeconomics is a course in price theory taught at a level somewhere between undergraduate intermediate microeconomics and Masters microeconomic theory. Price theory is a study of why things cost what they do and how prices coordinate the allocation of scarce resources. The major paradigm dealt with in this course is that of competitive (price taking) consumers and firms. This course will deal with circumstances under which the price taking assumption would not be appropriate. It will focus on fundamental issues involved in identifying the welfare effects of various market interventions. |
