Course Description

An analysis of French politics and society and of France in the world. This course aims to provide an introduction to France (both metropolitan and overseas) since 1945. The approach will be thematic rather than chronological. Students will have a collection of documents.

Indicative Assessment

Oral class presentation (20%), 2,000 word essay (40%) written version of class presentation (20%), panel discussion (15%) and class participation (5%).

Workload

1 lecture and 1 tutorial a week, plus 1 hour workshop/audio-visual session a fortnight, all in French.
