| Course Description |
(a) development of basic listening and reading comprehension skills |
| Learning Outcomes | On successful completion, the student will be able to communicate in very simple spoken and written German about topics covered in the course. This will include engaging in a very simple conversation of predictable content, as well as reading and writing about personal details and other topics covered in the course. In addition, the student will be able to read and listen for gist to more complex and/or more rapidly spoken German. The student will have gained a first awareness of aspects of life and culture of the German speaking societies and principles of intercultural communication. |
| Indicative Assessment |
This course has continuous assessment to provide students with regular feedback on their learning progress. Proposed are: five in-class tests (60%), one in-class written communication task (20%), one semester-long, interactive writing project (20%). |
