Course Description

(a) Grammar and vocabulary of modern written Japanese
(b) acquisition of further 300 kanji
(c) reading of Japanese texts
(d) basic composition

Learning Outcomes

Students successfully completing Written Japanese C will have mastered over 300 original Kanji and several times that number of kanji compounds, develop reading strategies and improve their familiarity with common written grammatical constructions. Students will move toward greater fluency in reading as well as develop stronger writing skills.

Indicative Assessment

Periodic quizzes (20%), three short essays (totaling 20%), tutorial work (20%) and a three-hour final examination (40%).

Spoken Japanese 2 (JPNS1013) and Written Japanese B (JPNS1015) or equivalent. Concurrent enrolment in or previous completion of Spoken Japanese 3 (JPNS2012)
