Course Description

(a) Grammar and vocabulary of written Japanese
(b) acquisition of further 300 kanji
(c) reading of Japanese texts
(d) composition

Learning Outcomes Students successfully completing Written Japanese D will have mastered over 400 original Kanji and several times that number of kanji compounds. They will develop reading strategies that will enable them to move beyond textbooks and work through real-world texts in Japanese with the aid of dictionaries.  Emphasis will be on grammar, vocabulary, Kanji recognition and the further improvement of writing skills.
Indicative Assessment

Periodic quizzes (20%), three short essays (totalling 20%), tutorial work (20%) and a three-hour final examination (40%)

Spoken Japanese 3 (JPNS2012) and Written Japanese C (JPNS2014). Concurrent enrolment in, or previous completion of, Spoken Japanese 4 (JPNS2013)
