Course Description

(a) introduction to the Lao writing system
(b) introductory phonology and syntax
(c) study of modern Lao texts.

Indicative Assessment

Oral tests during the semester (25%), written assignments (25%), written mid-semester (20%) and final exam (30%). Graduate students attend joint classes with undergraduates but may expect more rigorous assessment and additional assignment work, tailored to the graduate students’ interests.
