This course has two broad aims. The first is to introduce participants to the world of E-commerce and the practical and legal implications surrounding its use. The second is to explore the implications of E-commerce on the future delivery of legal and business services.
Topics covered include an overview of E-commerce, the role of the independent third parties, regulatory environment, EDI, E-commerce and the Internet, risk management, Internet security standards, cryptography and authentication, firewalls, payment mechanisms in E-commerce, expert systems and Web-based marketing and delivery of services.

One major piece of assessment (3,000-5,000 words).
