Course Description

Students work with a native speaker of a previously undescribed language, writing papers on some aspect of the grammar of phonology of the language. Instruction in the methodology of field-work and ethical considerations.

Indicative Assessment

Graduate students attend joint classes with undergraduates but may expect more rigorous assessment and additional assignment work, tailored to the student's interests.

Course Classification(s) TransitionalTransitional courses are designed for students from a broad range of backgrounds and learning achievements, which provide for the acquisition of generic skills; or an informed understanding of contemporary issues; or fundamental knowledge for transition to Advanced or Specialist courses.
