Course Description

An examination of philosophical problems concerning the nature of mind and of the mind-body relation. Different approaches to the character of the mental will be discussed, such as behaviourism, forms of materialism and reductionism, and especially recent work on functionalism.

Indicative Assessment

1,500 word essay (40%), examination (50%) and tutorial participation (10%).
