Course Description	Students in this course learn about and gain experience in the theoretical basis and philosophy of science communication, the development of science communication programs in the form of science centre exhibits and web-based science communication, and the evaluation of science communication programs.
Learning Outcomes	On satisfying the requirements of this course, students will have the knowledge and skills to: 1. Understand, analyse and evaluate research relating to science communication and science centres 2. Explain the process of developing science centre exhibits and apply this knowledge in the planning of science centre exhibits to achieve science communication goals 3. Describe the use of website development software and apply this knowledge in the planning and development of a website to achieve science communication goals 4. Explain social research methods in the context of science communication 5. Apply social research methods to the planning and evaluation of science communication programs
Indicative Assessment	Assessment will comprise: Essay on science communication in relation to science centres (15%; LO 1) Exhibition Design Project, development and presentation of proposal for exhibit or exhibition suitable for Questacon - The National Science and Technology Centre, inclduing the propotyping. of an exhibit (15%; LO 2, 5) Digital Project to develop piece of web-based science communication (25%; LO 3) Front-end evaluation project to demonstrate students' ability to perform original social science research through front-end evaluation of proposed science communciation program (15%; LO 5, 6) Summative evaluation project to demonstrate students' ability to perform original social science research through front-end and summative evaluation of science communciation programs (30%; LO 5, 6)
