Indonesian Studies Major

Add Indonesian Studies to my interest list
Offered By ANU College of Asia and the Pacific

Because the value of languages only arises with an understanding of the context in which they are used, students will also choose a Contextual major. Students of the Indonesian language, whilst it is not mandatory that they do so, are encouraged to choose the Indonesian Contextual Major.

Requirements

Each Contextual major is made up of eight courses comprising of:
  • two introductory level courses:
    • One of these must be ASIA1025 Individual and Society in Asia and the Pacific A
  • two core courses from the Indonesian Contextual Major:
    • INDN2008/2108 Pop Culture in Southeast Asia
    • ASIA2516 Indonesia: Politics, Society and Development
  • two to three ASIA courses directly related to the area of the major
  • two other courses (not necessarily from FAS) that fit broadly into the major:
    • Relevant courses, while broadly understood, will be confirmed by an academic advisor or the Sub-Dean.
There is no indicative list of courses that can count towards this major, as students are encouraged to design their own major, with input and advice from an academic advisor.
