Degree Structure

The program consists of 48 units of coursework, 36 of which are compulsory courses as listed in the Summary of Courses page, and 12 of which are elective courses determined in consultation with the co-ordinator, in light of the student's prior background, and particular regional and topical interests.

The compulsory courses will be available annually as indicated.

Elective courses (listed in the Summary of Courses page) consist of:

• existing courses in given areas that would be strongly recommended to students as appropriate choices;
• an internship course which could be taken up by particular students where this is successfully negotiated with a participating organisation.
• for students with strong grades in other MAAPD courses, and an interest in further research, a Special Project option is available in which a minor thesis is undertaken. This is subject to the approval of Program Convenors,
