*Students seeking to commence a Finance specialisation in Semester 2 (July) are recommended to contact the ANU College of Business and Economics before lodging an application to assist them to pre-determine their eligibility. Semester 2 (July) intake is permitted for international students and full-time Australian students seeking a Finance specialisation in instances whereby the student has already completed a recognised major in Finance through an undergraduate degree, or alternatively has completed some Finance subjects through an undergraduate degree (to be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Program Coordinator). Part-time Australian students are permitted to commence in the Semester 2 (July) intake with no academic background in Finance.
The two year Master of Commerce program focuses on an advanced and in depth level of study in a business or commercial discipline including accounting, finance or e-commerce.
The program provides an opportunity for students who come into the graduate program with no background in Commerce to reach an advanced level of academic study.
Additionally the program offers a pathway to PhD study if the student has not previously completed an honours degree.
Students with a background in business study may apply for the program, but may be required to substitute more advanced courses for those already undertaken if they continue to study the same area as their undergraduate major.
Admission Requirements
i. Applicants will be required to hold a pass (Bachelor) degree from an Australian university or overseas equivalent. Performance in the last two years of the degree is required to be at an average of 65% or better (or equivalent).
ii. Students who fail to meet the academic entry requirement at (i) above may be considered for entry if they are able to demonstrate at least one year of full-time relevant work experience which was undertaken after graduation from their degree. The suitability of the students to enter the program will be at the discretion of the Dean.
iii. Students entering the program are required to have an understanding of mathematics at university level including calculus and algebra. Students who do not possess this assumed knowledge may undertake a mathematics bridging program.
