From 2004 no new enrolments will be accepted in this program. Students should enrol in the Master of International and Development Economics.
The Master of Economics of Development degree gives students advanced training in economic principles and their application to policy formulation, and focuses on developing economies and international issues.
In addition to the economic theory and econometrics courses, students are able to choose their electives so that they can specialise in one or more of the following four streams: Trade and Economic Development; Finance and Economic Development; Environment and Economic Development; and Business Development in a Market Economy. The Director of Studies will assist and advise students in their choice of electives.
Prerequisites
Applicants should normally hold: (1) qualifications equivalent to a degree of Bachelor with first or upper second class honours from an Australian University or a Graduate Diploma in Economics of Development awarded with Merit or Distinction; (2) qualifications equivalent to a degree of Bachelor from an Australian University and substantial relevant work experience or other assessment (including outstanding performance in the Preparatory Course), as determined by the Prescribed Authority; or (3) an equivalent combination of postgraduate study in Economics of Development and relevant work experience, as determined by the Prescribed Authority.
