| Course Description |
This course is designed to provide an opportunity for students undertaking the Bachelor of Medical Science to learn about applications of the medical sciences in the work place. Potential work place opportunities will be presented to students, such as medical research, clinical science, forensic science or therapeutic science. Problems and issues related to different work places and issues such as ethical conduct will be discussed The course will include visits to, or experience in, one or more of these workplaces. |
| Learning Outcomes |
In general, on satisfactory completion of the course students will have the knowledge and skills to: 1. plan and engage in an independent and sustained critical investigation and evaluation of a chosen topic in medical science 2. systematically identify relevant theory and concepts, relate these to appropriate methodologies and evidence, and draw appropriate conclusions 3. engage in critical review of appropriate and relevant information sources 4. apply statistical or other evaluation processes to original data when appropriate 5. understand and apply ethical standards of conduct in the work place 6. communicate concepts and contexts clearly and effectively both in writing and orally |
| Indicative Assessment |
Written report(s) on work place experiences from interviews with potential employees and analysis of approaches in dealing with potential problems and issues. This course is assessed on a Course Requirement Satisfied (CRS) or Fail basis. This is essentially the same as current assessment. |
