| Course Description |
The course is designed to introduce students to aspects of the various phases of the history of translation in China. Through selected readings of existing translations and their associated critical apparatus, as well as theoretical treatments of the issue of translation ( Western and Chinese), students will develop a detailed knowledge of some of the contextual issues surrounding the work of the translator. |
| Learning Outcomes |
By the end of this course students will have developed an understanding of issues both theoretical and methodological, pertaining to Chinese/English translation. They will have a sound understanding of the history of translation in China, and in particular, of Chinese/English translation; and will have applied this knowledge to a particular topic. |

| Requisite Statement |
Students who are native speakers of English should have at least a major in another language, or equivalent Students who are native speakers of other languages should meet the normal English requirements of the ANU |
