Course Description This course is the further oral component of a one-year intensive beginners program in Modern Standard Chinese (Putonghua or Mandarin).

Learning Outcomes Rudimentary fluency in Modern Standard Chinese on a limited range of topics; ability to initiate and respond to everyday conversation, along with a good understanding of aspects of Chinese grammar.

Periodic oral assignments (20%)

In-class performance (20%)

Listening tests (20%)

Final oral examination (40%).
