| Course Description |
This is an individual reading and research-planning project. Under supervision, the student will investigate research questions of current importance in computer science itself or in the application of computer science to research questions in science, engineering or industry. The student will prepare a report which will be a scholarly analysis of the relevant literature, possibly combined with practical work of a scoping nature. Students will also be expected to develop a detailed plan for a practical research exercise which might extend this initial review. If the student does well enough in this course (achieving a Distinction mark or above) then they will be allowed to continue working on the topic in the COMP6702 eScience Project II course. The combined COMP6720+COMP6702 project courses will be equivalent in duration to a Computer Scinece Honours project. A normal prerequisite is 24 units of courses from the MInfTech program with a distinction average. In order to encourage flexible learning this project course may be scheduled in either S1 or S2 or both. |
