| Course Description |
This course gives students a solid grounding in formal demography. Topics covered include basic measures of fertility, mortality, migration and marriage, standardisation, Lexis diagrams, life tables, stable population theory and population projections. | Learning Outcomes |
By the end of the course, students will be aware of the major sources of data used in demographic analysis. They will also know how to calculate basic and refined measures of fertility, mortality and other demographic processes. |

Tutorial exercises (10%), assignment (40%), final exam (50%). |
