| Course Description |
This course follows on directly from DRAM1005 and concentrates on the rise and development of the modern theatre director. Students will examine the tasks that face a director when working on translating a play text into a performance text. Directing exercises will be prepared and performed in workshop sessions. Courses are designed to provide students with the opportunity to study theory through its practical application.

| Learning Outcomes | On satisfying the requirements for this course students will have a practical and theoretical understanding of the process of translating written text to performance, from the perspective of a director. |
| Indicative Assessment |
Two 1,500 - 2,000 word essays (25%) each and workshop contribution and performance (50%). |
| Workload |
Four hours per week: one 1-hour lecture, one 1-hour tutorial and one 2 hour workshop. At least 12 hours of rehearsal time during the course of the semester. 2 hours reading time per week. |
