Course Description

This course examines the concept of sustainable development and its economic, environmental and social dimensions. The course commences with an examination of the theory of sustainable development. It then considers the application of sustainable development to various environmental issues, such as  biodiversity, climate change, fisheries, and waste management. Case studies and guest speakers provide insights into the ways environmental management practitioners address these issues. Workshops provide an opportunity for students to develop skills in collaborative resource management.

Indicative Assessment

Analysis of a case study 20%;

Report on a field visit (20%) and oral presentation (10%);

Participation in class discussions 10%;

Short essay (40%)
