| Course Description |
This course is an introduction to the analysis of economic development. Its aim is to provide students with foundational analytic tools for making sense of some of the key problems associated with advancing development drawing on experiences from Australia, Asia and the Pacific. Why do some countries have more success in improving economic welfare than others? And why have so many countries in this region performed so strongly? The course draws on theoretical and empirical analysis from several disciplines to highlight the interplay of economic, environmental and political variables with which policy-makers in richer and poorer countries must grapple.
