| Course Description |
Students undertake an individual engineering project, with supervision.

| Learning Outcomes |
The aim of the individual project is to give you experience in the management and execution of a self-contained engineering exercise. The course will involve you in project management (from conceptualisation to delivery); research, design and analysis; record keeping and communication. You will gain experience in integrating some of the separate pieces of knowledge acquired over your degree; in managing your own time and coordinating with those who will assist you; and in preparing a report of substantial size. You will be awarded a grade on the basis of how well this is achieved. |
| Indicative Assessment |
There are 3 pieces of assessable work associated with ENGN4200. A work-schedule that is a monthly milestone contract between students and their supervissors, an oral presentation (15 minutes in which to communicate orally, the essence of the project) and a formal thesis (a lengthy, detailed written report on the project) Work Schedule (10%); Seminar (10%); Thesis (80%) |
| Workload |
Students must enrol in both Semester 1 & 2. The work-load expectation for Individual Project is no less than one full day per week during each semester and mid-semester break. It is strongly recommended that additional time is spent during summer holiday (early start involving literature survey, learning to use equipment, preparatory experiments, etc.). |
