Offered By School of Engineering
Academic Career Graduate Coursework
Course Subject Engineering
Offered in Second Semester, 2010 and Second Semester, 2011
Unit Value 6 units
Course Description

To provide an introduction to feedback control which is of fundamental importance to most engineering disciplines.
Control systems are found in a broad range of applications from aircraft and spacecraft to robots, automobiles,
telecommunication and process control systems. Basic principles of feedback and its use as a tool for altering the
dynamics of systems and managing uncertainty will be addressed. Key themes throughout the course will include
input/output response, the concept of transfer function for the linear system, understanding feedback properties and
synthesising feedback controllers to achieve the desired system performance by applying various design methods such as root-locus and Bode-plot.
