Course Description

Corporate Valuation is a "capstone" elective that draws on core corporate finance principles, theories and techniques previously studied. The objective of this course is to have students work in teams to develop and communicate a proposal for an M&A transaction - valuation, structure and financing. The valuation techniques covered in the class will include simple P/E multiple analysis, dividend discount models, and free cash flow analysis. Because of the richness of the approach, most of the focus will be on free cash flow analysis. Students will use current data to make acquisition recommendations about existing companies. While this entails more work and requires significant student initiative, this type of ‘learning by doing' should provide a lasting framework.

Learning Outcomes On completion of this course students should understand and be able to apply the processes and applications outlined in the course description.
