| Course Description |
Students should (a) be able to read Indonesian texts of different styles and registers, and to write a fairly nuanced essay in formal Indonesian (b) consolidate the skills developed in Indonesian level 3A (c) demonstrate sensitivity to the complexity of Indonesian social life and language, inluding the formal style. |

Students should (a) be able to hold analytical discussions in sophisticated Indonesian on a wide range of topics and current and historical and issues (b) further develop their ability to express their ideas orally using sophisticated language (c) be able to conduct research and produce esays in standard written Indonesian (d) be able to deploy high-level formal written and oral communication skills |

Class participation 10% (ongoing) Oral presentation for class discussion on assigned reading materials 10% (during the semester) Two written tests in class of 500 words for undergraduates/600 words for postgraduates 20% (10% each) Speech of 10 minutes duration for undergraduates and 12 minutes for postgraduates 10% - (mid semester) Long essay of 1000 words for undergraduates or 1700 words for postgraduates 20% A two hour final examination 30% (during examination period) Note: A minimum attendance of 60% is required of all classes in order to be eligible to take the final examination. |
