Course Description

The aim of the course is to develop further competence in modern spoken Japanese. The course will develop students natural communication skills. Japanese cultural aspects will also be discussed.

Learning Outcomes Students successfully completing this class will have experience using spoken Japanese in a variety of real-world settings, including formal speeches, job interviews and casual daily interaction. In addition to improving listening comprehension through extensive practice with video and audio materials, students will also focus heavily on intonation and pronunciation in order to improve communicative competence.
Indicative Assessment Projects (X3) - 60%; Mini-presentations (X5) - 5%; Vocabulary Quizzes (X6) - 5%; Textbook Homework (X6) - 10%; Video Homework (X10) - 20% 
Workload

Students can expect to spend approximately 10 hours per week on this course, inclusive of three class contact hours per week.
