Course Description	This course is intended to introduce students to a current area of interest in statistics. The specific topic covered will be determined by the interests and availability of staff. Note: Graduate students attend joint classes with undergraduates but are assessed separately.
Learning Outcomes	On satisfying the requirements of this course, students will have the knowledge and skills to: 1. Explain the fundamental concepts of a special topic in the statistical sciences and its role in modern mathematics and applied contexts. 2. Demonstrate accurate and efficient use of specific techniques from statistical science. 3. Demonstrate capacity for mathematical reasoning through analysing, proving and explaining concepts from statistical science.
Indicative Assessment	Assessment will be based on: Three assignments (10% each: LO 1-3) Final examination (70%; LO 1-3)
