Course Subject Management
Offered in Spring Session 2010, Winter Session, 2011, and Spring Session, 2011

Course Description

The  course explores the management of processes in business from three perspectives:  the role of processes in business operations, techniques in the analysis of business processes and the scoping of business process innovation projects.

The core of the course is concerned with the formal modelling and analysis of the processes that underpin routine business activity in areas such as sales, production, logistics, procurement and corporate support.  This view of business performance improvement is contrasted with others-especially common technology-centric approaches.

The course covers a range of topics including:  process theory, performance measurement, process innovation, diagramming and modelling tools.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students should have a foundation set of skills, tools and techniques for conduct of initiatives directed at improving business operations through process innovation.
