| Course Description |
This course will be a listening-based journey through which the development of the piano, from 1420 to the present, is revealed. It will give students a broad understanding of the aesthetic-sonic values, within the context of Western music culture, that give rise to the piano in its many historical incarnations.

| Learning Outcomes | Upon the completion of this course, students will have the ability to recognise the piano in its many incarnations; such recognition will be based on both sonic and design parameters. |
