| Course Description |
Aural 3 builds on the foundation laid in Aural 1 and 2 study to develop students' ability to hear and apply concepts of musical language. It continues to develop students' facility for inner hearing, aural awareness and skills in listening and notation through sight-singing, sight-reading, dictation and aural analysis. It aims to develop the students' understanding of further musical vocabulary and structures, and of harmonic, rhythmic and melodic concepts. |

On successful completion of this course, students will have become musically independent, able to:

| Indicative Assessment |
Progress tests (50%) will assess student development in rhythmic and melodic acuity and harmonic understanding. In-class assessment (50%) will account for student development in skills listed above, and also assess the expansion of their individual knowledge base and their capacity to contribute to the pool of musical wisdom. |
| Workload |
2 hours per week, one weekly lecture and one weekly tutorial. In addition to the weekly lecture and tutorial, students are expected to develop their skills in their own time, to the value of one hour per week for every contact hour. |
