| Course Description |
This course extends the students' ability to hear and apply concepts of musical language developed in Aural 4 Advanced. It extends the students' inner hearing, aural awareness and skills in listening and notating music through sight-singing, sight-reading, dictation/transcription and aural analysis. This course aims to further deepen the student's understanding of more complex musical vocabulary and structures, and of more advanced melodic, rhythmic and harmonic concepts. There is a strong emphasis on the application of these concepts to the music literature. |
| Learning Outcomes |
On successful completion of this course, students will have become musically independent and able to fluently apply advanced melodic, rhythmic and harmonic aural skills to enhance and support their work as a professional musician. |
| Indicative Assessment |
Attendance required at 85% of classes for successful completion. In-class assessments of set weekly homework involving melodic and rhythmic tasks to be executed in class. One end of course viva voce test involving melodic - rythmic and harmonic materials (50%) Two dictation tests based on melodic - rhythmic and harmonic disciplines (50%) |
