| Course Description |
This course is an advanced Spanish course. Students will be exposed to academic papers in Spanish, as well as historical and cultural texts. The course content will vary from year to year depending on the lecturer. In any given year, the course will provide intensive and advanced study of a topic or topics in an area of Spanish Studies. |
| Learning Outcomes | Students will be able to expand their knowledge of spoken and written Spanish. This includes the use of language for academic purposes, e.g. essay writing with appropriate referencing in Spanish and oral presentations of complex topics. They will conduct a small research project in Spanish, developing their own research questions, finding relevant literature and structuring, writing and presenting a research essay. |
| Indicative Assessment |
3 oral presentations (25%), a long essay (3000 words, 20%), two short essays (750 words each, 10%), 2 term tests (40%) and performance and participation in class (5%). |

2.5 hours of classes per week plus at least 7.5 hours of regular work per week outside class. |
