Course Description

(a) reading of graded cultural texts
(b) written composition
(c) intermediate conversation and discussion.

Learning Outcomes

By completing this unit the student will be able to

  • increase the proficiency of spoken and written Thai
  • increase oral fluency
  • build on understanding of Thai structure and discourse
  • increase the awareness of and understanding of Thai culture and society as well the culture and society of Thailand's neighbouring countries
  • increase your understanding of and interest in some contemporary issues in Thailand
Indicative Assessment

Graduate students attend joint classes with undergraduates but may expect more rigorous assessment and additional assignment work, tailored to the graduate student’s interests.

Workload

Five hours (including one tutorial), a week.

Unless exempted by the Graduate Program Convener, all graduate students must enrol concurrently in the course "Graduate Language Supplement SEAS8024", which usually includes a written assessment piece of several thousand words.
