The Graduate Diploma in Theory and Practice of Science Centres is a full-time or part-time program designed to provide knowledge and experience for personnel working in the field of science centres and science museums.  Each course in the program constitutes an overview of the field which will be of benefit to participants from a wide range of science centre operations.  The program focuses on providing a broad theoretical and practical base from which participants can develop their career paths in science centres and science museums.  Aspects of management will be addressed throughout the program.

The program may be offered in short intensive course format.  The contact hours per week provide an indication of the expected time commitment of students.

The program is undertaken in the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science at the Australian National University in Canberra, with practical experience in Questacon - The National Science and Technology Centre in Canberra.

Students may undertake the Diploma only after completion of the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Theory and Practice of Science Centres.  In this case the Graduate Certificate is not awarded.
