Master of Linguistics
Degree Structure
Candidates are required to complete 48 units, which includes both coursework and a sub-thesis. Students will undertake one of the following three options:
- Option 1: 36 units of coursework and a 12-unit sub-thesis (15,000-20,000 words) LING7112; or
- Option 2: 30 units of coursework and a 18-unit sub-thesis(20,000-25,000 words) LING7113; or
- Option 3: 24 units of coursework and a 24-unit sub-thesis (25,000-30,000 words) LING7114.
Coursework
Coursework courses will be selected in consultation with the Graduate Convener for Linguistics. After satisfying the requirements for compulsory courses, students may choose any additional courses from the list of available elective courses or other relevant courses (with the Graduate Convener's approval).
Students who have already studied equivalent courses in previous studies may (with the Graduate Convener's approval) choose alternative courses.
