Political Economies in Prehistory: Archaeological
Syllabus
Course description:
In a seminar format involving discussion, we will review the history of political economy approaches and their applicability to archaeology. This will involve reading some of the ‘classics,’ outlining a political economy approach, and analyzing variation in political development across the Pacific. Students are expected to do reading in anticipation of the class discussions. Each student will choose a substantive area of interest (not necessarily in the Pacific) and use a political economy approach to analyze your case material.
