In Major 4, studio investigation remains project-based with opportunities for students to explore individual areas of interest.  Higher level skills, techniques, processes and occupational health and safety principles are increasingly developed. Critical thinking and creative problem solving are encouraged and applied to individual projects. Studio theory contextualizes student study within the broader arts context.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

1. Apply a range of technical skills at a high level
2. Demonstrate creative exploration of materials
3. Consolidate integration of concepts and processes
4. Demonstrate increased awareness of historical and theoretical contexts for artistic practice in the discipline

Portfolio of studio work and visual journal (80%) and Documentation (20%). Assessment includes periodic critique and review sessions that provide ongoing feedback on work in progress.

12 hours per week lectures, tutorials, critiques and supervised studio practice and 6 hours per week independent studio practice
