Course Description

Students will explore an additional range of photographic skills and technologies. Themes, subjects and intentions will be discussed and visual, conceptual and technical possibilities of photography are introduced. A continuation of the technical program and demonstrations will further the understanding and use of photographic materials and processes. Occupation Health and Safety instruction is included.

Note: Places in this course are limited. Students are advised to enrol as early as possible.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course you should be able to:

  1. Consolidate technical skills and use of equipment and technologies
  2. Select and integrate information from various sources in the creative exploration and experimentation of materials
  3. Formulate creative concepts in the development of creative research practice
  4. Show awareness of communicate historical and theoretical contexts relevant to creative research practice
Indicative Assessment

Portfolio of studio work (80%) [LOs 1 – 4]

Journal/Documentation/Studio Theory presentation (20%). [LOs 1 – 4]

Assessment includes periodic critique and review sessions that provide ongoing feedback on work in progress.

Workload

4 hours per week lectures, tutorials, critiques and supervised studio practice and 6 hours per week independent studio practice and other research.
