Course Description

In Book Design 4 students further develop individual projects based on individual interest and independent research. Final works should reveal a sophisticated synthesis of technique, concept and form. Occupation Health and Safety instruction is included.

Note: Places in this course are limited. Students are advised to enrol as early as possible.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course you should be able to:

  1. Identify and develop personal areas of research
  2. Demonstrate increased level of skills in techniques and processes and technologies
  3. Demonstrate understanding of the importance of critical and self-reflective practice
  4. Show increased awareness of relevant historical and theoretical contexts
Indicative Assessment

Portfolio of studio work (80%) [LOs 1 – 4]

Journal/Documentation/Studio Theory presentation (20%). [LOs 1 – 4]

Assessment includes periodic critique and review sessions that provide ongoing feedback on work in progress.

Workload

4 hours per week lectures, tutorials, critiques and supervised studio practice and 6 hours per week independent studio practice and other research.
