Course Description

Business research is a systematic inquiry whose objective is to provide information to solve managerial problems. This course is an introduction on how to do business research with an emphasis on applied problem solving. It has a major focus on problem identification and analysis, problem solving strategies and communication skills.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course you should be able to:

  • Clearly identify and analyse business problems and identify appropriate and effective ways to
  • answer those problems
  • Understand and apply the major types of research designs
  • Formulate clearly defined research questions
  • Analyse and summarise key issues and themes from existing literature
  • Evaluate and conduct research
  • Understand the ethical issues associated with the conduct of research
  • Be able to formulate and present effective research reports

  • Seminar participation 10%
  • Assignment 15%
  • Case Studies and Discussion 15%
  • Final Examination 60%
Workload

3 hours per week plus up to 7 hours private study time.
